Meet the People Behind the Tribune
History wasn't always our favorite subject. At one time, it was nothing more than a dry textbook in the hands of a young child, boring them with dates and facts to memorize.
Then everything changed. We took a history class that brought the past to life. Instead of just reading an article, we experienced history firsthand: cooking food from the time period, taking part in reenactments, and completing hands-on historical writing assignments.
As adults, we wanted young people to share in that same connection to the past; not just read about the past, but experience it.
That's why we chose to deliver history through the mail. There's something powerful about holding a piece of the past in your hands, a letter, a map, or an artifact, instead of just scrolling past it on a screen.
Making history come alive
History is more than ancient battles and distant lands. It's the story of how societies, cultures, and ideas shaped the world we live in today — from the principles of democracy born in ancient Athens to the architectural influence of Greek civilization that still surrounds us. History helps us understand where we came from and how our world was built.
Our goal is to make history come alive for children and families, so they don’t just learn about the past, but experience it. We hope to inspire the next generation not only to love history, but to see their own place within it and to understand that their actions today will become part of history tomorrow.
We want every recipient to feel a sense of excitement, curiosity, and anticipation, like they are opening a message from another time. Each letter is designed to feel immersive and personal, as if history is unfolding right in their hands.
